Murom Plans to Produce Intelligent Equipment for Electric Cars

The volume of investments will amount to 6.7 billion rubles

The second day of the XXIV St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, where Governor Vladimir Sipyagin is currently staying, turned into an agreement for the Vladimir region. The White House, the administration of Murom and the management of PO Murommashzavod JSC signed a document on investing about 6.7 billion rubles in the creation of production of intelligent mechatronic devices for automobile and electric vehicles.

The design production capacity will be 80 thousand products per year, and the planned number of jobs is 800. It is expected that the supply will be made to Russian and foreign markets.

“In 2021 – 2025, the creation of large-scale production of transmissions and intelligent steering systems of modern cars, electric cars and electric buses, including the Aurus project (the family of representative and top class cars, previously known under the project designations “Unified modular platform” and “Kortezh”) is provided for in Murom,” − the administration website states.

The investment project has already been supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, as well as the Central Research Automobile and Automotive Institute NAMI and the company KAMAZ. It is not clear what prevented the regional and municipal authorities from concluding an investment agreement earlier within the Vladimir Region. Perhaps, the business air of the Northern Capital has a favorable effect on such deals.

We should add that the delegation from the 33rd region included not only the Governor, but also his deputies Alexander Remiga, Mikhail Korotayev, Grigory Vishnevsky, Director of Economic Development Department Alexander Yaroshevsky, founder of Dobrograd Vladimir Sedov, as well as representatives of companies “Askona”, “Vladimir Standard”, “Generium” and JSC “Murom”. The main theme of SPIEF-2021 is “Together Again. Economy of the new reality”.
