An Exhibition by Kirill Vedernikov, an Artist From Vyazniki, Opens in Bavaria

The "Creation" series will remain in Germany

On November 22 at 18:15 German time in the Bavarian town of Bamberg an exhibition of Kirill Vedernikov, a native of the Vladimir region, will open. A series of works titled “Creation” was first presented a year ago in St. Petersburg. Bamberg is the second German city where Vedernikov’s exposition is presented. Two weeks earlier Creation was shown to the public in Nuremberg.

Between Nuremberg and Bamberg Cyril visited Erlangen, where he painted two more paintings to complete the cycle. According to the artist, he was inspired by the works of Albrecht Dürer and German Gothic.

The exhibition features works from different creative periods of the artist, which at a certain point merged into a composition: from the creation of Eve to the Virgin Mary. Kirill Vedernikov approaches the theme of “creation” through Christian and mythological images. The artist’s plastic language draws on the traditions of Old Russian icon painting, the Russian avant-garde and the German Gothic.

The cycle “Creation”, now consisting of 14 works, will remain in the Diocese of St. Otto in Bamberg until early January 2022. The exhibition has been fully purchased by the German side, so it is likely to continue its journey through cities in Germany.

Kirill Vedernikov is from Vyazniki. He is mostly known for his street works. His paintings decorate walls in Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Astrakhan, Yalta, Yekaterinburg. Vedernikov became known to Vladimir citizens this summer when he took part in the street art festival 33zagfest. His large-scale canvas adorned the wall of the house at Lenin Avenue, 68A.

“I started my artistic career with industrial landscapes. The aesthetics of the post-Soviet space, filled with complex structures and forms, especially fascinated me in my student years. In all this you can recognize the imprint of time and a different energy. The next important step on my way is to turn to monumental art. Its task is not just to convey the atmosphere of what is “left behind”, but to fill it with images. Modern space is a huge hypertext with its speeds, which is why there is a great interest in sacred art, in which I consider the creation of the world to be my real theme” – Kirill Vedernikov told.
