In the Vladimir Region a Conscript Tried to Evade the Army and Got Lost in the Woods

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against him

The Investigative Committee of the Vladimir region opened a criminal case against an 18-year-old resident of the Gus-Khrustalny district. He is suspected of evading military service.

As reported on the website of the department, on April 12, 2021 the young man was handed a summons, according to which he had to come to the enlistment office on April 20 at 7:30. The draftee had no grounds for exemption from military service, and by decision of the military medical commission he was found fit to serve.

However, the resident of Gusev had no desire to go into the army, so he went in search of an abandoned house in some village, where he intended to wait out the draft.

“After some time, the young man got lost and spent about a day in the woods. Closer to the evening of April 20, 2021 the conscript went out to the road and hitchhiked to his place of residence, where he was detained by police,” explained the Investigative Committee.

The young man admitted his guilt in full, but explained that he did not want to join the army. Now he faces up to two years in prison.

It is noted that the person involved in the case does not work anywhere, is not married and has not previously been held criminally liable.
