“Immortal Regiment”, Street Food and Fireworks. How Vladimir Going to Celebrate Victory Day

The mayor's office presented an action plan

Vladimir has prepared a large program to celebrate the 77th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The main events will take place from Sadovaya Square to Victory Square. Events are also scheduled in parks, pedestrian streets and squares in neighborhoods.

“We are returning to a face-to-face holiday format. All restrictions have been lifted. Many bright events are planned. Zarnitsa, a sports festival, has already been held. There are themed lessons in schools. There are a lot of interesting events ahead,” said deputy mayor Vladimir Garev.

All will begin on May 9 at 9:00 am on Sadovaya square. The participants of “Immortal Regiment” will gather there. City officials advise to come early so as not to get crowded and well-organized. The gathering will move from the bus stop on Pichugin Street at 10 o’clock. The column with a stretching board is in the front and then the column – with photos of 24 heroes of the Soviet Union, natives of Vladimir.

“The “Immortal Regiment” procession has not been held since 2019. Everything will remain traditional. No registration is required. Pre-registrations are not needed. Come to the appointed time with placards of their heroes,” – explained the coordinator of the “Immortal Regiment” movement Kirill Kovalev.

The holiday returns to the usual for Vladimir citizens pre-demonstration format. A field kitchen will work on Lenin Avenue in the course of the “Immortal Regiment” movement. Artists from cultural institutions will sing wartime songs. A gastrodvor will be organized near the regional court. There will be no exhibition of military equipment this year.

“After the procession of the “Immortal Regiment” there will be a short rally. It will be followed by a military parade [note that although the timetable does not include a parade, but it is planned] and a flower-laying ceremony at the memorial on Victory Square. The concert will be in non-stop format from 12 noon to 10 pm. It will end with a fireworks display. Salute will last about eight minutes, it will have about 1400 volleys”, – the deputy head of department of culture Natalia Litvinova told.

Alexander Karpilovich, the head of PR and Media Relations Department, said that in the morning on May 9th, Andrey Shokhin, the city mayor, will call and congratulate all veterans. Deputy mayor Vladimir Garev added that all veterans and widows of participants of the Great Patriotic War will be visited by representatives of the administration and will give memorable gifts.
