From Friday to Sunday, the first weekend in August, there was hot weather in the Vladimir region. During the day the thermometer rose above 30°C. Many people decided to cool off in the ponds, but not everyone did it without incidents. Sad statistics of tragic accidents on the water increased by six people. Since the swimming season began, 34 people have died, six of them children.
On August 5 a 34-year-old man drowned on Lake Gidromut in Kovrov. He was resting with friends on the shore, then went for a swim, began to sink and went under water. Eyewitnesses dragged the lifeless body to the shore. Now the circumstances of the incident are being investigated by the police. The MES specifies that the lake was not intended for swimming.
On the same day a 51 year old man drowned at the local quarry in Sergiev Posad-15 of Alexandrovsky District. And in this case, the body without signs of life was extracted from the water by eyewitnesses. The object, where the victim bathed, is not an official beach.
On Friday evening in the area of the railway bridge over the Oka in Murom an 11-year-old child drowned. Rescuers were called by local residents and reported that they had seen a possible tragedy. Arriving on the scene officers found the body of the minor. The Investigative Committee of the region is conducting an investigation into the incident.
On Saturday, August 6, in the town of Kolchugino a 33-year-old man unsuccessfully dived into the Peksha River. The victim did not dive out of the unequipped for swimming area. The man’s body was recovered from the water. As in all other cases, experts are now establishing the circumstances of the tragedy.
On Sunday there were two fatal accidents on the water in the town of Kovrov on Lake Starka. During the day a 59-year-old man started drowning in the pond. Rescuers on duty at the scene managed to pull the man out and began resuscitation. However, the victim could not be saved.
Simultaneously, another possible drowning victim was reported to the Ministry of Emergency Situations by phone. Arriving on the spot, the searchers retrieved the man’s body. His identity is being established now.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations traditionally reminds of the need to swim only in an equipped and authorized for bathing ponds. The department asks citizens not to leave children unattended, while adults – do not enter the water if they are ill, have serious illnesses or are intoxicated.
