Man Accused of Public Calls for Terrorism in Vladimir Sentenced to Two Months in Jail

He published calls in the telegram community to blow up military units, politicians, and government agencies

In Vladimir, Oktyabrsky district court considered the petition of a senior criminal investigator of the investigative branch of the regional FSB department for the selection of a preventive measure for a man accused of public calls via the Internet to terrorist activity (Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code).

According to a joint press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of Vladimir region, the defendant posted a post on February 27, 2022 in the telegram community that contained calls to blow up military units, political figures and government agencies. The publication was available to the general public.

On April 9, Oktyabrsky District Court granted the petition of the investigator. The defendant was kept in custody for two months, till 7 June inclusive. The ruling did not come into legal force.

Ч. 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code provides for a fine of 300 thousand to one million rubles, or imprisonment of five to seven years with prohibition to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to five years.
