Navalny Was Transferred From Pokrov Prison No. 2 to Some Other Penal Colony

There are rumors that he may be transferred to a high-security colony in Melekhovo

Convicted Alexei Navalny was transferred from Pokrovsk colony No. 2, where he had been serving a sentence in the Yves Rocher case for over a year. In March 2022, the court sentenced the oppositionist to nine more years in prison for fraudulent donations to his structures (now listed as a foreign agent, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia). At the same time it became known that the politician was going to be sent to a strict regime penal colony.

On June 14 Navalny’s lawyer came to correctional facility No. 2 in Pokrovsk. He was told that the convict was not in the institution. Supporters of the opposition leader believe that he could have been transferred to BK-6 in the settlement of Melekhovo, Kovrov district, Vladimir region. It is a strict regime colony for first time convicts. But there is no official information about where Navalny’s prisoner was transferred to yet.

Recall, in January 2022, Rosfinmonitoring included Navalny in the register of terrorists and extremists. In addition, the oppositionist failed to challenge the decision to place him in the Pokrovsk-2 penal colony as prone to extremism.
