The Regional Hospital Started Providing High-Tech Medical Care Less Frequently and Doing COVID-Tests More Often

During the entire period of the fight against the coronavirus, 3,296 people were treated in the infectious diseases hospital of UCB. At the same time, the volume of high-tech medical care provided at the hospital decreased by more than two thousand cases. This information is contained in the official response from the Regional Clinical Hospital to an editorial request from ProVladimir.

“For the last 10 to 15 years, OKB has dealt exclusively with high-tech care, so the process of involving our specialists in providing primary care or diagnostic care has been quite painful and difficult. As an example, one can take selfless work of the personnel of our Regional AIDS Center laboratory which ensured 20-fold increase of the number of PCR examinations, from 10,000 to 200,000 per year,” – says the answer from the Regional Clinical Hospital signed by Vladimir Bezrukov, the Head Physician.

The head of the Regional Clinical Hospital added that the medical institution was short of employees. Over the last two years, 35 doctors and about 100 paramedical personnel have been employed at the Regional Clinical Hospital. But given the epidemic situation, this is not enough.

Modern requirements for the material and technical base of hospitals are very serious. But five buildings of OKB were built in the 80s of the last century, and it is very difficult to comply with these standards there:

“That is why in addition to constructing an infectious diseases building we are designing another building to house diagnostic and auxiliary services as well as preparing to repair the emergency morgue building,” Bezrukov said.

And the arrangement of an equipped parking lot near the hospital is not a matter of time. The management of the medical facility does not believe it is possible to plan for this in the context of funding shortages.
