Ex-officer of Federal Penitentiary Service Sentenced to Two Years in Vladimir Region for Bribery

A man used to carry forbidden food and medicines to an inmate for money

In Kovrov, a sentence was passed in the case of a former employee of IC6 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Vladimir region. He was found guilty of taking a bribe in a significant amount. From December 2010 to October 2020, the defendant was the head of the security department of the penal colony.

Between January 2017 and October 2019, the said correctional officer repeatedly received money in various amounts from the convict for bringing prohibited food and medicines into the institution. For this, money was received on a cell phone number registered in the name of the chief’s wife.

In total, a former employee of the FSIN received 121 thousand rubles in this way.

“At the court hearing, the defendant actually pleaded guilty to committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code, but did not agree with the qualification of the crime”, – reported on the website of the court.

The court sentenced the man to two years and two months in a general regime penal colony. He must also pay a fine of 605 thousand rubles. After serving his sentence, the convict will not be allowed to hold positions related to the functions of a representative of authority, as well as the performance of organizational and administrative functions in state law enforcement agencies for two years. The court verdict has not entered into legal force.
